About the event

SafeHER Crewe Launch
Her-Place Charitable Trust Launches “SafeHer Crewe” Initiative in Partnership with Crewe BID, Crewe Town Council, and Avanti
Her-Place Charitable Trust is proud to announce the launch of SafeHer Crewe, a new community-led safety initiative designed to support and protect women and girls in and around Crewe Railway Station and Nantwich Road. Delivered in partnership with Crewe BID, Crewe Town Council, and Avanti West Coast, the scheme will create visible, accessible Safe Spaces and promote a culture of safety and respect in Crewe.
The SafeHer Crewe initiative launches with a public event at Crewe Railway Station on Wednesday, 7th August from 9.30am, where members of the Her-Place team will be promoting local services, sharing safety resources, and answering any questions from the public. All are welcome to stop by and learn more.
“This project is about more than safety — it’s about dignity, confidence, and community,” said Kate Blakemore, CEO of Her-Place Charitable Trust. “Through SafeHer Crewe, we’re making sure that women and girls know they are not alone — and that Crewe is a town where they are seen, supported, and safe.”
A key feature of the initiative is the creation of Safe Spaces at Crewe Station and throughout the Nantwich Road area. Participating businesses and venues will be offered specialist training to provide a supportive environment for anyone feeling unsafe or vulnerable, with clear signage to identify each Safe Space.
As part of the campaign, Kate Blakemore will also be curating a Safety Information Board inside Crewe Station. This board will offer up-to-date information on local services, helplines, and community resources — acting as a go-to guide for both residents and visitors seeking support.
The SafeHer scheme is set to expand into wider parts of Crewe over the coming months, with a growing network of Safe Space locations and ongoing community engagement to ensure the initiative remains inclusive and responsive to local needs.
“Avanti West Coast is proud to be working with Her-Place and community partners to make Crewe Station a Safe Space for all,” said a spokesperson from Avanti. “Stations are gateways to our towns, and they must reflect the values of welcome, safety, and respect.”
Crewe Town Council, Crewe BID, and Avanti West Coast remain committed partners in this work, recognising that a safer Crewe for women and girls is a safer, stronger Crewe for everyone.
