New singers and guest singers from other choirs are invited to join us at our weekly rehearsals for our Summer Concert.
Rehearsals are held each Thursday evening, 7.45pm to 9.45pm.
Works we will be singing are:
Haydn’s ‘Nelson Mass’ (A Mass for Troubled Times) to be sung in Latin, Brahms’ 'Song of Destiny' to be sung in English and Mozart ‘Ave Verum Corpus’ to be sung in Latin.
Music scores will be available for hire at rehearsal, with a hire fee of £2 each for Haydn and Brahms work (both Novello publications). Printed Mozart scores will be provided.
Membership subscription for the whole term ( 11 Thursday rehearsals starting on 24 April, plus concert day rehearsal and the concert) is just £40.
New singers can attend up to four rehearsals before deciding if they want to pay the subscription and commit to the whole term.
Our concert will be on the evening of Saturday 5th July, at St Wilfrid’s Catholic School [off Old Horsham Road, Crawley RH11
8PG] when we will perform with our professional orchestra, The Phoenix Sinfonia, and four fabulous professional soloists –
Soprano - Caroline Taylor
Mezzo-soprano - Kate Symonds-Joy
Tenor - Greg Tassell
Bass - Richard Bannan
In addition, everyone attending rehearsals will be invited (and positively encouraged!) to attend our 'Nelson Mass' Singing Workshop on Saturday 7th June 10am to 4pm at West Green Baptist Church, when we will concentrate on the Haydn Mass, led by our Music Director George Salmon and guest vocal coach Lynton Atkinson, Vocal Professor at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and is also Musical Director of Hurn Court Opera.
No need to contact us in advance, just come along on Thursday evening - car parking is available at St Andrews church, or at the nearby shops. We start at 7.45pm so arrive by 7.30pm to collect music and introduce yourself. Rehearsals finish at 9.45pm with a short break during the evening for refreshment and chat.
