You may have heard it said that we are all called to be saints, but how many of us truly believe we will grow so holy that one day we will really become one? Instead of responding “Here I Am Lord”, how many are tempted to shake their heads and say, “not me Lord”? What does it even mean to grow in holiness in today’s world? How can we really respond to this call in our everyday lives?
Inspired by Pope Francis recent Apostolic Exhortation, Guadete Et Exsultate on the Call to Holiness in Today’s World, in which he encourages the faithful to live “everyday holiness in practical and ordinary ways”, participants are guided through the retreat as they reflect on their own Everyday Holiness.
Through prayer, presentation, individual reflection, and small group discussion, participants will expand their understanding of what it means to live holiness in their everyday lives.
This retreat offers a safe space to examine and respond to the call for each of our lives and deep desire imbedded in each human heart – the universal call to holiness. Following Pope Francis’ pastoral guidance, participants can find greater clarity to find a way to live everyday holiness.
“Do not be afraid of holiness. It will take away none of your energy, vitality, or joy. On the contrary, you will become what the Father had in mind when he created you, and you will be faithful to your deepest self. To depend on God sets us free from every form of enslavement and leads us to recognize our great dignity.”—Pope Francis, Gaudete Et Exsultate
“Saints… remind us that holiness can blossom even in our lives, however weak and marked by sin.” ~ Pope Francis
