🎭 WHO SHOULD AUDITION
Hayswood Theatre is proud to welcome performers of all ages—from school-age students through retirees. Whether this is your first audition or your fiftieth, if you love telling stories onstage, there’s a place for you here.
Experienced and first-time performers who enjoy singing, dancing, and acting are encouraged to audition. Roles for young performers may be doubled.
Unless strictly and specifically mandated by the playwright, all roles are open regardless of race, ethnicity, or body type.

🎶 WHAT TO PREPARE
• Photo and résumé encouraged but not required
• You will complete a brief audition form at auditions
Please be prepared to:
• Sing 16–32 bars of a musical theatre song of your choice
• You must sing with a provided Bluetooth device, or you may bring your own accompaniment device.
• No a cappella auditions will be accepted
• Participate in a dance/movement audition taught by the show choreographer
• Please dress appropriately to move
• Read from provided sides (monologue/dialogue from the script)
• Complete a conflict sheet (please be as specific as possible)

📆 REHEARSALS & COMMITMENT
• Rehearsals will be held 3–4 times per week, scheduled based on cast conflicts
• Not all performers will be called to every rehearsal, especially during the first two weeks
• Every effort will be made to release children and teens at a reasonable hour
• Tech week will take place the week prior to opening
• No absences will be accepted during tech week or performances
Please make sure you can fully commit to the rehearsal period and performance schedule before auditioning.

📖 ABOUT THE SHOW
The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill, who convinces the people of River City, Iowa, to buy instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he promises to organize—despite knowing very little about music. His plan to skip town unravels when he falls for Marian Paroo, the town librarian, and discovers the power of community, honesty, and unexpected love.
