Fusion Dance is a style of partner dancing that is based in partner connection with the freedom to improvise any flow of steps & movements that inspires you! The music is varied across genres, and all dance styles are welcome (blues, swing, tango, salsa, ecstatic, contact, country, bachata, groove, etc.). Each dance is a unique creation between yourself, your partner & the music.
OPTIONAL FUSION DANCE LESSON: This lesson will introduce folks to Fusion dance, focusing on the fundamentals of connection with self and other. We will cover simple ways to enhance communication and fun on the dance floor. This is a great lesson for folks who have never partner danced before, or don’t know how to start “fusion” dancing. You do not need to come with a partner. Come play!
BEGINNERS: It is an incredibly accessible partner dance for you (there’s no prescribed steps to memorize).
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED: It is infinitely expansive for you (there’s freedom to curate and combine your depth in knowledge of patterns/styles).

Facilitator Bio:
JJ Simms is a Mancos-local who fell in love with Fusion dance at a far-away festival. She didn’t want to move, so she brought Fusion Dance to us! Longtime educator, inspired organizer & burgeoning dance teacher, JJ is passionate about creating space for all bodies to discover intimate connection (to self & other) through movement. Come play, explore & groove with the irresistible Fusion community.
