Paddy Sherlock, back from his adopted city of Paris, will be singing and playing his trombone for an evening of original songs at the Anglican Christ Church in Glandore.
Funking it out with his repertoire of New Orleans street grooves with an Irish twist. He is accompanied by two of the very best musicians in Ireland: Richie Buckley on Tenor Saxophone. Richie plays with Van Morrison, Mary Black and Sharon Shannon. And Dradjen Derek on guitar. Drazen has played with the Chieftains, Sinéad O'Connor and now fronts the New Cafe Orchestra.
"The authenticity of Tom Waits with the extreme sweetness of Chet Baker."
That's how FiP radio described Paddy on his most recent album, DUSK.
The album was album of the month on FiP and album of the week in Rolling Stone magazine in France. With Rolling Stone magazine saying:
"The man feasts in an intimate voyage from Tom Waits to Paul McCartney, passing through
Van Morrison… An agreeably outdated sound that shows real character in its artistic
expression."
“I was happy to be present at a gig that nestles comfortably in my greatest ever gigs basket. Paddy plays trombone that acts as punctuation and percussion - The best entertainer I have seen for a long while…" (Shay Healy)
"Best recent show I’ve seen? - Paddy Sherlock... He had the whole audience in the palm of his hand and the atmosphere was electric."
(Mary Black)
Paddy has a bunch of new songs, including his recent song for Gaza: "We all let it happen again and again."
The Palestinian ambassador, Dr Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid on hearing the song, invited Paddy to the embassy to personally thank him for writing the song.
You can get a glass of wine at the event. Proceeds to the Christ church restoration fund.
An evening of music like you've never heard before!
