This EBSA Workshop, delivered byBlossom Children's Occupational Therapy, is designed for parent carers but is also highly relevant for school staff who want to improve inclusion and outcomes in mainstream settings.
💡 Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA) is not about poor behaviour, lack of motivation, or parenting. It is a stress response where school feels unsafe or unmanageable. Without the right understanding and support, distress can quickly escalate.
🌼 What this workshop will cover:
✔️ What EBSA really is (and what it isn’t)
✔️ Common risk factors and early warning signs
✔️ Why transitions, sensory demands, and emotional load matter
✔️ Practical, realistic strategies that can be used at home and in school
✔️ How to reduce pressure and support gradual, safe re-engagement with learning
✔️ Ways schools can respond more compassionately and inclusively
✨ You’ll leave with practical tools, increased confidence, and a clearer understanding of how to support children before EBSA becomes entrenched.
👨👩👧 Ideal for:
• Parent carers navigating school anxiety or non-attendance
• SENCOs, teachers, TAs, pastoral staff
• Anyone supporting children at risk of EBSA
📅 Places are limited – early booking is recommended.
👉 Book your place and build understanding, empathy, and effective support around EBSA.
Because children don’t avoid school for no reason – they avoid it because they are struggling. 🩵
