Playing to Create: Dramaturgies of the encounter
One of the principles of my work is the creation of collective relational happenings with children, affirming their uniqueness. I always say that in childhood we are all artists and that all artists are curious and need to create and invent to be in the world. I am interested in "artefacts" in which happenings are collectively created in a horizontal relationship between the participants, through what we can call the "dramaturgy of the encounter".
To create collectively, without having to use words, in order to reach agreements, to understand each other and to establish guidelines for something that is being built. For this, I believe that it is necessary to have a body open to play, permeable and generous. To be open to an attentive and curious listening, understanding that to play is not in me but in the other, or rather in the between that we build with the other. We will work experimentally and experientially on the principles of play as a concrete relationship of being collectively; listening and the sensitive body to propose relational experiences.

BIO
Ieltxu Ortueta, a Basque artist living in Brazil, develops proposals for children through the ARTEFACTOS BASCOS platform, with a focus on early childhood. He has been researching and presenting collective performancesince 2016, on the border between performance art, visual arts and theater, where the work/performance is built in co-creation with the children. Every Child is an Artist! is the conceptual and practical premise that runs through all the proposals and, in this sense, the children are the protagonists who create the performance together with the artist.
His performances have been presented at festivals in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Mexico, Cuba, the US, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Norway, Finland, and Palestine.
He is a member of the VINCULAR Network (Latin American Network for Early Childhood Creation), SMALL SIZE (Network for the Dissemination of the Performing Arts for Early Childhood), and CBTIJ/ASSITEJ Brazil.
