Categories (not in order):

PERFORMANCE
Vogue Femme OTA: "Tomb Raider: The Legacy of Lara Croft"
Tonight, you are Lara Croft — the ultimate adventurer with body, grace, and combat precision. But this time, the only treasure you’re after is your 10s.

Bring it in an action-ready effect inspired by Lara Croft — think combat boots, tactical gear, utility belts, and fingerless gloves. Whether you serve the classic braid and crop top or a modern twist on her look, you should embody her fearlessness on the floor. Give the panel the fantasy of a femme fatale who can fight, flip, and finesse her way through any tomb.

Old Way OTA: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Slice With Precision"
In a world full of creatures lurking in the shadows, only one stands between the darkness and the light — and tonight, that slayer is YOU.

Bring it in an effect inspired by Buffy Summers, the ultimate 90s badass. Are you Buffy the high school student or the nighttime slayer? Think cardigans vs leather jackets, converse vs chunky boots, books vs crucifixes, and 90s nostalgia with a supernatural twist your look must say: I fight evil — and I look good doing it.

New Way OTA: "The Matrix: Glitch in the System"
Reality is an illusion. You are the anomaly they couldn’t explain. Step into the Matrix and bring it in a cyber-sleek effect inspired by the iconic digital world — think long trench coats, dark sunglasses, tight latex or leather and slicked-back hair. Whether you channel Neo, Trinity, or Morpheus, your presence must be cold, calculated, and coded.

When it’s time to move, bend the laws of physics with your arms control, clicks, twists, and illusions. Serve contortion with clarity, precision, and power.

Hands performance vs Arms control OTA: "Bracelets: Speak Your Style"
Your hands and arms aren’t just moving — they’re speaking. Each gesture, each extension, is amplified by the bracelets you’ve chosen to wear. Make them part of the narrative, not just the look.
Fill it from wrist to elbow (or beyond!) with your own style of 90s bracelets — jelly bangles, candy cuffs, friendship stacks, charms, spikes, beads, slap — whatever expresses YOU. The look should be colorful, chaotic, sentimental, or sleek — but undeniably personal.

Beginner’s Performance OTA: "Pokémon: I Choose YOU!"
Welcome to the Ballroom League! Whether you're a Pikachu, a Mewtwo, or a Team Rocket recruit, tonight you're stepping out of the Pokéball and onto the floor to battle for your 10s.
Bring it in a Pokémon-inspired effect — you can embody a specific Pokémon, a trainer, or other character — but your look must clearly reference the world of Pokémon. Bring a photo or digital image of your inspiration (from the show, game, or cards) to show the judges. Once you hit the floor, show us your elements and turn out your Beginner’s Performance — you’re here to learn, grow, and evolve.

Vogue to Anything OTA: "Back to the 90s: Fashion Flashback"
Dust off your Tamagotchi, grab your Discman, and step into a decade that defined a generation. We’re voguing through time — and the 90s are calling your name.

Bring it in a fully realized 1990s fashion effect, choosing one of the era’s iconic aesthetics:
🖤 Grunge (flannel, ripped denim, band tees)
🔮 New Age (flowy fabrics, crystals, celestial prints)
🖤 Goth (black lipstick, chokers, combat boots)
🎤 Hip Hop (oversized fits, gold chains, brand names)
🧼 Preppy (plaid skirts, varsity jackets, polos)
To complete your look, accent with a nostalgic 90s item — a real object or visible accessory from the era. Think: pagers, Game Boys, butterfly clips and mood rings — anything that brings the 90s to life.

Make your movement match your fashion — moody, flashy, chill, or chaotic. No matter what beat plays, your attitude should scream: I lived this.

Lip Sync OTA: "Now That’s What I Call Music 90s"
Step into the spotlight and channel a legend, it’s not just about knowing the words — it’s about becoming the voice behind the beat.

Choose any song from the 1990s — any genre, any artist, your choice. You’ll perform up to 1.5 minutes max. You must send your clip to the DJ ahead of time. You must dress like the artist who performs your chosen song, we need to see the singer in YOU. Bring a reference image (printed or digital) to show the judges exactly which look you’re recreating.

Battle songs:
Britney Spears - Hit Me Baby One More Time
Toni Braxton - Unbreak My Heart
Sir Mixalot - Baby Got Back
Shania Twain - Man! I Feel Like a Woman
FINAL BATTLE: Technotronic - Pump Up The Jam

FASHION
All American Runway OTA: “Fresh Prince Fresh Off the Runway”
You got your invite to Bel-Air, and tonight, you better walk like you just stepped out of the Banks’ mansion and a 90s fashion editorial. Inspired by “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” this category is all about bold prints, vibrant colors, and street-smart prep with a designer twist.

Think Will’s loud jackets, flipped caps, high-waisted pants, button-ups, vests, color-blocked windbreakers, and fresh kicks, Carlton’s clean-cut polos and blazers, Aunt Viv’s elegant power suits, bold shoulder pads, and statement earrings—or Hilary’s high fashion flair, matching sets, and bougie accessories. All gave us range, glamour, and undeniable Black excellence—now it’s your turn.

European Runway OTA: "The Supermodel Era: 90s Legends Walk Again"
Before the influencers, before the filters — there were the true icons. Naomi. Linda. Iman. Claudia. Christy. The 1990s supermodels didn’t just walk — they ruled the world, one runway at a time.

Tonight, you are stepping into their stilettos. Bring it in a runway-ready effect inspired by a real 90s supermodel look— this means high fashion, drama, and precision. Think Versace, Mugler, Chanel, Gaultier, and those unforgettable editorials or catwalk moments that defined an era. Your effect must be a direct reference to a 1990s supermodel moment — bring a printed or digital reference image to show the judges the exact look you are channeling.

Best Dressed OTA: "Fran Fine: The Nanny Knows Best"
You can take the girl out of Queens, but you can’t take the Queen out of the girl. Tonight, you are the one and only Fran Fine, the fashion-forward, high-energy, and fabulous nanny who turned every room into a runway.

Bring it in Fran’s signature style — bold, bright, extravagant, and always a little bit dramatic. Think power suits, sky-high heels, oversized hats, and anything that screams high fashion with a twist of playful irreverence. It’s all about mixing patterns, clashing colors, and serving glamour that’s as loud as her personality. Your look must channel Fran’s style to perfection, with a reference image showing the iconic fashion moment you are recreating.

Fashion Killah OTA: “Club Kid Chaos”
Step into the delirious dream of 90s nightlife—where glitter reigns, boundaries vanish, and nothing is too much. This is Club Kid Chaos, a neon-soaked fantasia where fashion becomes rebellion and identity is performance. Think platforms to the gods, lashes longer than your enemies’ patience, and silhouettes so wild they could shut down a subway line.

Your mission: Create a look that’s not just worn, but lived in. This is late-night legend energy. It's latex meets lollipops, cyber meets haute couture. Paint your face like a rave flyer, clash colors like your life depends on it, and make your walk scream: “I came to redefine reality.”

Bizarre OTA: "90’s Toys: A Surreal Playtime"
Step into the weird and wonderful world of 90s toys — but don’t just bring the nostalgia, bring the bizarre. Tonight, we want to see your childhood toys reimagined into something unrecognizable, abstract, and surreal.

Take your favorite 90s toy — Moon Boots, Furbies, Tamagotchis, Pogs, Barbie dolls, Slinky, etc. — and transform them into something distorted, futuristic, and disorienting. Deconstruct, morph, or reshape these toys into a bizarre look. Your look should evoke the strangeness of these toys but elevate them to an entirely new, avant-garde level. We’re talking playtime gone wrong, where nothing is what it seems.

BEAUTY
Face FF: ”Unapologetically Divine”
We are honoring the undeniable beauty of Black and Brown femme figures. This is about soft glam: the perfect blend of subtle luxury, radiant skin, and flawless features. A feminine, graceful glow, and gorgeously in control - walk like you know your beauty has history—and it shines through every highlight and sculpted cheekbone.**

Face MF: “90s Fine”
In this category, we honor men whose faces have been a masterclass in elegance, masculinity, and flawless skincare —Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs, Larenz Tate, Ginuwine, Tyrese. If you’re walking this category, you’re stepping into the legacy of rich melanin and perfectly groomed features. Clean, confident, and undeniably handsome. Bring the face, bring the glow, and serve magnificence.**

**Tonight the face categories are only for black and brown individuals.

Hair Affair OTA: “The bigger the hair, the bigger the attitude”
It’s all about the crown—and we’re throwing it back to when hair was high, loud, and sculpted. We want to see 90s iconic black hairstyles that turn heads and break necks. Think B.A.P.S, TLC, Missy Elliott, and every fly look that lived in a Vibe magazine spread.

This is not your average updo—this is a 90s masterpiece. Finger waves, pin curls, crimps, towering wraps, sculpted swoops, bold colors, and outrageous accessories. Hair is the statement and the attitude. Whether it’s laid, sprayed, or stacked to heaven, your hairstyle must scream I’m that one. When you hit the floor, your hair does the talking—because tonight, the higher the hair, the closer to legendary.**

**Hair Affair is only for black and brown individuals.

Body OTA: “Baywatch to the Rescue”
The sun is high, the ocean is calling, and the lifeguard fantasy is in full effect! For this category, we’re heading to the beaches of Santa Monica—Baywatch style. Whether you’re serving Pamela or The Hoff, tonight you’re the star of the slow-motion run.

Think classic Baywatch: bold red swimwear, golden tans, and effortless beach fashion. Bring out that iconic high-cut one-piece or your own bombshell twist on it. Serve lifeguard fantasy in red swim trunks, tank tops, or nothing but confidence. Whistles, floats, mirrored shades—accessorize like you’re on duty and on camera - remember to bring that slow-motion heat.

Sex Siren OTA: “Nothing Comes Between Me and My Calvins”
Step into the sensual minimalism of the 90s, where raw sex appeal met stripped-down fashion. Tonight, we want to see you channel the iconic Calvin Klein underwear ads that defined a generation—with nothing but confidence and your Calvins.

Bring us that moody, high-contrast 90s fantasy: white Calvins, and that unforgettable sensual energy. Underwear must be Calvin Klein branded, worn like you're the muse of the campaign—because tonight, you are the campaign.

REALNESS
FQ Realness: “Girl Group Glory”
We’re rewinding to the golden era of girl power and glam squads. For Femme Queen Realness, you’re walking like you’re in a 90s girl group — from the coordinated slay of Destiny’s Child, to the attitude of the Spice Girls.

We want the look, the attitude, the aura — everything that made these girl groups unforgettable. This is more than fashion. This is chart-topping realness. Are you the sexy one? The sporty one? The sweet one? Choose your role and embody her. A digital or printed mood board is mandatory.

TM Realness: “Boy Band Icons”
We’re throwing it back to when harmonies were tight and dance moves were tighter. For Transman Realness, we want you to walk like you just stepped out of a 90s TRL countdown — from the smooth crooners of Boyz II Men to the poppin’ perfection of the Backstreet Boys, and every group in between. You’re not just serving realness — you’re serving album cover realness.

Are you the soulful one? The bad boy? The shy heartthrob? Choose your archetype and bring the fantasy to life. A digital or printed mood board is mandatory.

Fag Out: “Velvet Glam”
This evening the stage is your stardust-drenched spaceship. Inspired by the queer cult film Velvet Goldmine, this category demands nothing less than full-blown glam rock god energy, soaked in sequins, sexual chaos, and eroticism.

Think PVC, velvet, lamé, and platforms that could kick homophobia into orbit. In this look androgyny is turned up to 11, with no apologies and no labels. Serve us attitude, delusion, and the unholy marriage of sex, fame, and rebellion.

Dyke Out: “Dyke, Interrupted”
The year is 1999. You've just been checked into Claymoore Psychiatric Hospital — but you're not here to get better. You're here to serve looks, destabilize gender norms, and leave a trail of confused straight girls in your wake. Bring a look inspired by the emotionally volatile and intimately queer world of Girl, Interrupted.

We want to see grunge asylum glamour with a side of sapphic subtext. Think: Susanna’s oversized sweaters and hospital gowns or Lisa’s tank tops and fur-trimmed coats. Whatever your fashion statement, your look should whisper: "I'm not crazy. I'm just queer and tired."

MF: Male Figure
FF: Female Figure
OTA: Open to All
FQ: Femme Queen
TM: Transman
