Odqin Ensemble is a Malmö and Copenhagen-based musical collective led by Egyptian musician Islam Ghallab.
The project fuses Jazz with elements of RnB and Hip-Hop creating a soulful and dynamic experience for the listeners, while emphasizing the improvisational essence of Jazz, ensuring that no two performances are ever the same. In 2024, the project gained significant recognition in Copenhagen through three
successful shows, including a performance at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival.
Coming from different parts of the world, the musicians met in 2024 and quickly bonded over their love for artists like J Dilla, D'Angelo, Robert Glasper, and Erykah Badu, and have been working together ever since on their original music and their live
sets.
This year, we are set to perform at the main stage of Malmö Sommarscen along with a few other shows, and we are eager to bring our unique sound to more venues across the region.
