Fenimore Chamber Orchestra closes its 2024–2025 season with “Sumer Is Icumen In”—a dynamic program that journeys through the musical landscapes of the British Isles and beyond, highlighting the bold voices of two remarkable women composers.
🎶 Program:
Granville Bantock – Scenes from the Scottish Highlands
Richly orchestrated and evocative, this suite captures the drama and beauty of Scotland’s rugged terrain.
Joan Trimble – Suite of Strings
A spirited work by the Northern Irish composer and pianist, full of lyricism and rhythmic vitality.
Grażyna Bacewicz – Concerto for String Orchestra
A brilliant and fiery piece by Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz, one of the 20th century’s most compelling musical voices.
Gustav Holst – St. Paul's Suite
A favorite of the string repertoire, blending English folk tunes with Holst’s unmistakable charm and energy.
Led by Artistic Director Maciej Żółtowski, this concert showcases the expressive power of the string orchestra and the rich diversity of 20th-century music.
