Visitors to Fiber Arts Weekend will find a variety of demonstrations, exhibits, vendors, and hands-on activities featuring wool carding, spinning, weaving, quilting, knitting, and other textile related activities—all occurring throughout the museum. This year’s weekend will focus on the traditional process of spinning.
Museum interpreters will demonstrate a variety of textile techniques as well as providing hands-on activities for visitors. Todd’s General Store will offer woven items made at the museum and fiber arts project kits.
Groups participating will include the Susquehanna Valley Quilters, Old Story Quilts, CMS Crankers with their circular sock machines, Shirley's Quilts & Wovens, Oswego FiberWorks featuring English Angora Rabbit fiber, Leatherstocking Spinners Guild, Fenimore Quilt Club, Lizz Murdock's Dark Sea Yarn, Hulse Hill Farm and Clean Cashmere, plus many additional skilled craftspeople.
Exhibitors will have items to sell including wool, cashmere, angora, and alpaca products, finished goods, apothecary items, and textile-related pottery.
