Mendoza Tango Quintet - Coolum Beach

The fiery Mendoza Tango Quintet are bringing tango’s rich history to life this July with 6 concert performances across South East Queensland.

With a reputation as one of Australia’s leading tango exponents, the Mendoza Tango Quintet features five fiery, Australian-based musicians specialising in the performance of traditional Argentinian tango music.

Showcasing the quintessential ferocity of the bandoneón and the velvety voice of Argentine-born Solange Lipcin, the quintet will take you on a journey from the elegant dance halls to the underground tango clubs of Buenos Aires.

Delving deep into this rich tradition, the Mendoza Tango Quintet delivers an impassioned and gutsy performance without the clichés, spanning the traditional dance music of the 1930s, the avant-garde of the 1970s, and the modern face of the 21st century.

The Mendoza Tango Quintet features Solange Lipcin (vocals), Stephen Cuttriss (Bandoneón), Liz Young (violin), Thomas McCorquodale (piano) and Chloe Ann Williamson (Double Bass).
