SPECIAL EVENT :
The Majestic welcomes Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz of Talking Heads for a special screening of Stop Making Sense, followed by an interview and Q&A moderated by music historian and Majestic mainstay, John Howell.
Stop Making Sense, possibly the greatest concert film of all time, was directed by Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs). It captures the new wave band Talking Heads in performance at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles over three nights in December 1983. The film features David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison, alongside an electric ensemble of supporting musicians, and is renowned for its innovative cinematography, striking lighting design, and David Byrne’s unique stage production concept. It’s considered a groundbreaking and influential example of the concert film genre, featuring iconic performances of the band's most memorable songs.
Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz are an influential husband-and-wife musical duo, known for their roles as the bassist and drummer, respectively, in the iconic band Talking Heads. After the band's formation in the mid-1970s, they married in 1977, and later, during a Talking Heads hiatus, they formed the successful dance-focused band Tom Tom Club, which produced the hit "Genius of Love". In addition to their prolific work in these bands, they have also worked as producers for other artists and continue to be active in music.
