Join us at St Oswald’s Church, Grasmere for an afternoon of fantastic choral music and community music-making. Whether you're an experienced singer or just love to belt out a tune in the shower, this event is for you; all we ask is an ability to read the dots and a willing attitude!
This event is part of an outreach project run by current and former members of The Queen's College, Oxford which has many historic ties with Cumbria, dating back to the foundation of the College. The College was founded in 1341 by Robert de Eglesfield in honour of Philippa of Hainault, Queen Consort to Edward III, to whom he was Chaplain. The event will be led by Dr Samuel Teague, vicar choral at the University Church of St Mary the Virgin and former lay clerk with the Choir of the Queen's College. Dotted into the ensemble will be members of the Eglesfield Consort—comprised of past and current members of the Choir of the Queen's College—who will be there to sing along and answer any questions you might have.
We are also keen to talk to anyone thinking about life and study at Queen's and Oxford. With a variety of disciplines represented within the members of the Consort, we warmly invite you to approach us at the end of the service where we can talk about our experiences at Queen's and Oxford. Please note that any participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (either also taking part in the event, or who will remain in the building).
Whilst participation in the event is free, it is essential that you book your space so we know how many people will be attending. Don't miss out on this opportunity to be part of something truly memorable!
