Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Celebrates Opening of New Cricket Pitch at Kelly Park:

Cricket Comes to Compton with Exciting Community Kick-Off Event

Compton, CA — June 7, 2025— Southern California Junior Cricket Academy (SCJCA), in proud partnership with the City of Compton Department of Parks and Recreation, is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the brand-new cricket pitch at Kelly Park.

To celebrate this exciting milestone, we invite the community to join us for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and community event on:

🕚 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

📍 Kelly Park, 2319 E Caldwell St, Compton, CA 90220

The celebration will feature:

• A ribbon cutting ceremony with city officials and partners

• Live cricket demonstrations from USC cricket players and local coaches

• Food, beverages, and live music for the whole family

• Summer camp sign-ups and info on our new youth cricket program

“This new pitch symbolizes a fresh chapter for youth sports in our community,” June 7, 2025. “Cricket is more than a game—it’s a tool for mentorship, empowerment, and community connection. We’re excited to invite everyone to experience it with us.”

This event marks the beginning of SCJCA’s new programming at Kelly Park, where kids and teens will have the opportunity to learn and play cricket, participate in STEAM activities, and grow through mentorship and recreation.
