About the event

Fire in her bones~with Cashmere
Fire in Her Bones is a dance journey honoring upcoming International women's day , the fierce creative fire of femme artists and producers, and the wild, radiant power that lives within us all. It is an invitation to gather to uplift their artistry and amplify their voices.
This is an inclusive space, whether you identify as femme, carry feminine energy, or simply feel called to honor it , you are welcome here. This is a dance floor rooted in respect, inclusivity, and collective celebration.

CASHMERE~Born and raised on the vibrant west coast, Cashmere's (aka Lisa Larkin) lifelong passion for music and dance led her to embrace DJing many moons ago. After a hiatus dedicated to nurturing her children, she's back with fierce inspiration and determination, crafting sonic odysseys that captivate Dance Temple and a myriad of events (many that she produces) and festivals across Vancouver Island. Notably, she's delighted audiences opening for Goopsteppa and Adham Shaikh at the Waverly Hotel. also gracing stages at Cumberland Wild, Otherworld, Belonging, Pachena Bay and the Woodstove Festival.

Doors open at 6:45pm, music will be playing and participants are asked to enter in silence and begin stretching, breathing and connecting with your body, the music and the space. Please arrive before 7pm so we can begin as a group. There will be a gentle opening while the music continues. Music will follow an ecstatic dance arc from a gentle beginning, gradually building to a crescendo and then back down into a soft musical landing with space for reflection. Closing circle at 8:30pm.
Cost: $20-25 sliding scale
COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS WITHIN THE SPACE:
*No talking on the dance floor (This is a dance focused space)
*No outdoor shoes on the dancefloor
*No cell phones, pictures or videos
*Must be 18 or older to attend
CONSENT:
We recognize that touch and physical proximity can mean different things to different people. In this space we practice self-awareness of our own bodies, and the ways in which we engage with the moving bodies of others. We define consent as freely given, enthusiastic agreement for mutual participation.
WHEN APPROACHING OTHERS:
*Make no assumptions!
*Look for a yes, look for eye contact
*Respect any no (including when someone is ignoring you or moves away from you)
*Respect a Solo Dancer’s right to their space.
* Do not engage in physical touch without clear consent. (By extending your hand to another dancer it signals you would like to connect in a physical dance, if they put their hand into yours that signals consent for a physical dance)
Alchemy: The Valley’s evening ecstatic dance sanctuary.
A place to drop into the wisdom of our bodies, guided by the rhythms and beats, to alchemize our emotional days, to move with our emotions, and to arrive at mental calmness and clarity.
A place to express our full soulful selves in safety and respect. A place to explore and journey within yourself. A space for healing on the individual level, as well as on the collective level.
When a golden idea is ready to come to fruition, it often springs up like a field of beautiful wildflowers. Suddenly it is scattered in many hearts at the same time, ready to be made manifest in the world.
With gratitude, I respectfully acknowledge that the land we gather and dance on is on the Unceded Traditional Territory of the Sathloot, Sa Sitla, Leeksen and Pentlatch people of the K’ómoks First Nation, the traditional keepers of this land.
Join us Wednesday evenings, 7-8:30pm at the Fallen Alders.
Six DJs rotating weekly to offer diversity and balance.
