Hello again my friends! I'm excited to lead another dance adventure!
This week's theme that came through was "opening". It was inspired by my newly developping relationship with the spirit and energy of the barred owl. The barred owl has been inviting me to look, feel and listen deeper and deeper. From this place I find I'm able to tune into the question "What is opening in me right now?" This tuning in allows more space for what is naturally trying to occur, express or release within me to happen.
This week I'll invite us all to begin that process of tuning into to what's occuring within us and invite an embodied energy of openess to meet that inner experience with the intent to create more space for it to express out into the world.

*** All bikes to be left outside the farm entrance on the bike racks to minimize impact on the grounds ***
***Please carpool or bike if possible. We have been filling the available parking and it helps so much if you are able to do this
:: NEW DT FAMILY AGREEMENTS & OPTIONS ::
Dance Temple welcomes families and children! To meet the diverse needs of our dancers and to honour this beautiful land and it’s stewards we have created special "family agreements":
OPTION 1 - DANCING WITH YOUR KIDS
- Parents are responsible for children at all times (*unless the children join the children’s program, ages 6 to 12)
- Children must remain with their parents throughout the dance
- Trees and plants are to be respected and not damaged, i.e. no picking berries, breaking branches or climbing trees
- The general Dance Temple agreements apply to children as well
OPTION 2 - JOIN THE SUPERVISED KIDS PROGRAM:
- The children’s program is offered by Calia Gregory. She offers a playful and creative exploration through arts and crafts outdoors on the farm.
- The program runs 10:30AM to 12:15PM for all children between the ages of 6 and 12.
- Suggested donation to cover childcare cost is $5-10 (No one turned away for lack of funds.)
::LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT::
I respectfully acknowledge that the land we gather on is on the Unceded Traditional Territory of the K’ómoks First Nation, the traditional keepers of this land.
::DANCE TEMPLE AGREEMENTS::
In this space we collectively agree to:
*Develop compassion, awareness, acceptance
*No talking on the dance floor
*No cellphones
*No instruments
*No photography
*No drugs, alcohol, or other intoxicants.
*** No glass allowed on the farm, please leave all glass items at home ***
*Tops to be worn throughout the dance and around the property for all gender expressions, bikini top is the minimum coverage requested by the landowners, please be respectful of this boundary.
::ON BOUNDARIES & TOUCH::
We recognize that touch and physical proximity can mean different things to different people. In this space we practice self-awareness of our own bodies, and the ways in which we engage with the moving bodies of others. We define consent as freely given, enthusiastic agreement for mutual participation.
WHEN APPROACHING OTHERS:
*Make no assumptions!
Look for a yes, look for eye contact
*Respect any no (including when someone is ignoring you or moves away from you)
*Respect a Solo Dancer’s right to their space.
* Do not engage in physical touch without clear consent.
This is a transformational space for dance, healing, prayer, laughter, joy, sadness and everything in between.
