We are pleased to announce our second season of exciting events at Rainbow Meadow Learning Gardens! These gatherings and workshops are designed to connect our community, promote agriculture, and celebrate the beauty of nature. Mark your calendars and sign up today for our first summer workshop!
Monday, July 14th
6pm – 8pm
Rain Barrel Workshop with Stephen Elliott, Director of Watershed Programs at PPA and NJ Ag Society
Come build a Rain Barrel with the Farmers Against Hunger Team at Rainbow Meadow Learning Gardens and learn about watershed issues of the Rancocas River!
• Build your own Rain Barrel to take home
• Learn how humans can make a difference with water conservation
• Hear about current topics related to our local watershed
A single 55-gallon rain barrel can save up to 1,300 gallons of water every year.
Rain barrels collect free rainwater to water gardens, trees, and lawns. This saves you money on water bills, AND helps reduce demand for energy-intensive treated tap water, limits stormwater runoff and erosion, flooding, and saves water for use during droughts. Installing a rain barrel is one of the easiest ways to reduce your water footprint and help recharge our rivers, lakes, and aquifers.
In addition to building a rain barrel, attendees will be given instructions for installation, care, and appropriate uses for their rain barrel. Participants will also get hands-on installation practice during the workshop.
The cost for this event is $50 and includes all construction materials. The fee is per barrel, so groups can build one barrel for $50. PLEASE BRING CASH OR CHECK FOR $50. Write check to New Jersey Agricultural Society.
