We are very excited to be hosting the first ever Chuck Taylor Day in Columbus – a FREE event for our community. This day is long overdue as we celebrate the legendary Chuck Taylor who was from Bartholomew County and played high school basketball at 445 5th Street, the former city hall. His shoes continue to be popular among wearers of all ages.
Before the Event
Sneaker Scavenger Hunt – Search for mini All-Star tennis shoes hidden around downtown Columbus from May 24 to June 7. Pick up a scavenger hunt passport at any participating location. Once you’ve found all the shoes and completed your passport, bring it to the Columbus Area Visitors Center by June 7 to claim a one-of-a-kind Chuck Taylor Day vinyl sticker!

Fan Jam, promoting the 2026 Men’s Final Four, is a mobile pop-up event truck. Take photos with the Championship Trophy, practice your shooting and go home with some fun giveaways!
Explore the Past – Visit Old City Hall for a glimpse into local sports history and what basketball looked like in Chuck’s time.
Public Art – Be sure to check out the unveiling of a larger-than-life, eye-catching fiberglass Chuck Taylor sneaker sculpture—a bold tribute to the hometown legend—on display outside the Historical Society Museum.
