Ragtime and Beyond: 100 Years of American Popular Music

In collaboration with the Columbia Music Teachers association, young pianists will perform Ragtime works for feedback from "one of the best interpreters of ragtime music on the scene today."- Charles Osgood. Attendees will learn more about ragtime history and style, and Scott Joplin. Free and open to the public
7:00 PM Concert, "100 Years of American Popular Music"
Pianist Scott Kirby, together with vocalist Eileen Henry, will present 100 years of American popular music, featuring Classic Ragtime, early Jazz, Blues, Boogie, and Popular Song. Kirby is widely known as one of the country's foremost interpreters of Scott Joplin, and Eileen Henry toured with New York City Opera. The two of them will include some of our best known composers, including George Gershwin, Eubie Blake and Hoagy Carmichael.
