Springs Ensemble Theatre Presents:
THE REVLON GIRL
By Neil Anthony Docking | Directed by Madalyn Rilling
June 5–22, 2025 | Preview June 4
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Springs Ensemble Theatre (SET) closes its 15th season with the award-winning drama The Revlon Girl by Neil Anthony Docking, a moving exploration of grief, guilt, and unexpected hope in the wake of unimaginable tragedy.
Eight months after the 1966 Aberfan Disaster, a catastrophic mining accident in South Wales that claimed 144 lives, including 116 children, a group of bereaved mothers gathers weekly above a local hotel. These meetings offer a space to talk, to cry, and to occasionally laugh without shame. In one such meeting, they quietly admit to each other how much they’ve “let themselves go.” Too ashamed to seem frivolous, yet yearning for some piece of normalcy, they secretly invite a Revlon representative to give a talk on beauty tips.
Can this makeup demonstration, and the woman delivering it, offer comfort, or is this simply too much to ask from just "a bit of lipstick"?
Based on a true story, The Revlon Girl was nominated for an Olivier Award and won “Best New Play” at the Off-West End Awards in 2018. The events that inspired the play were also featured in the acclaimed Netflix series The Crown.
Directed by Madalyn Rilling, SET’s production features ensemble members Ellie Hinkle, JoLynn Minns, and Sarah Sheppard Shaver, alongside guest artists Zoe Flack and Margaret Brophy.
