FRIDAY, August 15th, 2025 Clean Sweep Event (Ticket Required)

FREE Hard-to-Recycle Event – Friday, August 15, 2025

El Paso County is hosting a FREE Hard-to-Recycle Clean Sweep Event on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the El Paso County Household Hazardous Waste Facility (HHWF), located at 3255 Akers Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80922.

This drop-off-only event is designed specifically for recycling mattresses/box springs, tires, and large TVs. Pickup services will not be provided.

✅ Accepted Items:
*Televisions (any size): Limit 5 per household
*Mattresses/Box Springs: Limit 4 total pieces
*Tires: Passenger and light truck tires ONLY. NOTHING LARGER
→ Limit 9 per vehicle, tires may be on rims.

🚗 Vehicle Requirements:
Passenger vehicles pickups and small box trucks only
→ Trailers are not allowed due to space and safety limitations at the venue.

· If you are bringing tires, you must be able to unload them without assistance from event staff.

· Pack your vehicle with mattresses and box springs on the bottom and place TVs and tires on top to allow for safe and efficient unloading. [See attached image]

❌ Not Accepted at This Event:
Paint, chemicals, batteries, motor oil, fluorescent bulbs, and other household hazardous waste
→ These items are accepted year-round at the HHWF during normal business hours.

📌 Event Guidelines:
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED – Each household must present a valid ticket (printed or digital).

One ticket and timeslot per household – Duplicate registrations will be deleted.
Open to El Paso and Teller County households only.
No business, commercial, or organizational waste – Includes schools, churches, nonprofits, etc.

· Drop-off only – no pickup services provided.

🚫 Items Not Accepted:

Air conditioners, appliances, ammunition, asbestos, BBQ grills, carpet/rugs, cables/wires (unless attached to TVs), compressed gas cylinders, fans, furniture, heaters, home media (CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, cassettes), lawn mowers, medical equipment/supplies, medications, microwaves, phones, refrigerators, remote controls, satellite dishes, snow blowers, speakers, trash, yard waste, and more.

❖ TRAFFIC INSTRUCTIONS: Enter Akers from Constitution Avenue and go NORTH (North Carefree will not be accessible).

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE LIABILITY RELEASE & CERTIFICATION STATEMENT: I hereby declare and affirm of my own personal knowledge that the items delivered to the El Paso County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility was, in fact, generated through household use and is not business or commercial subject to federal or state waste regulations. I understand that should I surrender any data containing device to the El Paso County Household Hazardous Waste Facility for recycling it is solely my responsibility to protect my personal information. I further agree to defend, indemnify, and hold El Paso County harmless from and against any and all liabilities, demands, claims, damages, suits, judgments and decrees, and court awards including costs, expenses and attorneys’ fees, on account of injuries to or death of any person or persons or damage to any property or personal information arising out of or related to my willful misconduct or negligent acts, errors or omissions for the duration of my participation. I understand that the items will be accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility in reliance on the accuracy and truth of my foregoing declaration / affirmation.
