Museum Muses: Bookmarks in Bloom

Join Sayali Abhyankar for a creative afternoon at the Morton Museum as we explore the intricate and vibrant world of Madhubani painting! In this hands-on workshop, you will learn to paint a beautiful floral design on a handmade bookmark, inspired by the traditional Madhubani style.

The workshop’s theme will center around the symbolic beauty of flowers, celebrated across Indian art for their connection to nature, beauty, and the divine. In Indian culture, flowers often represent growth, renewal, and life's fleeting yet powerful essence. Their detailed patterns in Madhubani art evoke a deep sense of harmony, spirituality, and artistic expression.

Whether you’re new to art or an experienced painter, this workshop is a wonderful opportunity to create a unique, meaningful piece while learning the cultural significance behind these natural motifs. All materials will be provided, and you’ll leave with your hand-painted floral bookmark!
