New Director Meet & Greet

Whitman County Rural Library District is thrilled to welcome new Executive Director, Christy Hughes to the area. Join us for a special Meet & Greet reception on Thursday, June 26 from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Colfax Library. Until then, has written this note of introduction:

Greetings! It is my great pleasure to join the Whitman County Library team as your newest Executive Director. I am an Arizona native but spent my formative years attending public school as a gaijin in Japan, and later a haolei in Hawaii.

My professional background includes over eight years of public librarianship in marketing, public relations, outreach and youth services. I am trained in child, adolescent, and adult development, and also special education. While working in human resources and project management a few years back, I decided to return to school for my MLIS, and finish my working tenure in library service. WCL’s Mission brings together my highest aspirations – to build communities, respect all humans and connect them to information networks that enhance their lives. It is my privilege to work beside you.

My family and I are relocating from Southwest WA in mid-May. Our moving truck includes my husband, two sons and our giant dog, Gus. We are thrilled by this opportunity to make new friends and call Whitman County home.
