European Heritage Open Day 2025

For one day only, the doors of the iconic Mussenden Temple will be opened to the public once again to celebrate European Heritage Open Day (EHOD).

The annual event celebrates local architecture, history and culture across the continent, and this year's theme is "Architectural Heritage: Past structures, future connections.”

Architectural heritage isn’t just about the structures of the past; it’s about the people, stories, and connections they continue to inspire.

Why not join our local guide on a journey of architectural discovery behind the creation of the grand Downhill House and iconic cliffside library?

In celebration of this annual event, we'll be hosting a free guided tour of Downhill Demesne at 12 midday on Sunday 14 September.

Please note booking is essential and there are only limited spaces available for this tour, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
