TYA presents Auditions for "Myth-Understood"

Who: Students in grades 4-8

Audition & Rehearsal Dates: August 11 & 12, 2025 at 5pm at Tibbits Opera House. Students need only attend one time. The cast list will be posted on the website by 5pm on August 15, 2025 here: https://tibbits.org/get-involved-2/auditions-tech-interviews/ The read through will be August 28, 2025 at 4:30pm with a parent meeting at 6pm and will be located at Hope Church. Regular rehearsals will start September 2, 2025 and will be Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:30pm-6pm. Not all cast members will need to attend all rehearsals. You will receive a rehearsal schedule on August 28. Wednesdays will be added at the end of the rehearsal cycle. Rehearsals will be held at Hope Church until the last two weeks of rehearsals which will be held at Tibbits Opera House.

Show Dates: October 16-17 at 7pm and October 18 at 2pm

How to Prepare for the Audition: Students should bring a current, non-returnable photo, their completed audition form, and be accompanied by one parent or guardian. The audition form is available here: https://tibbits.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/TYA-Audition-Form-Fillable.pdf

What to Expect at the Audition: Students, five at a time, will be asked to introduce themselves from stage and read parts from the script.

Show Information: Two teens writing a report on Greek mythology are startled when they get a visit from Hermes, winged helmet and all! The messenger whisks them away to Mount Olympus, where various gods and goddesses retell their myths to the students in a more favorable light. In a quest to get people to worship them once again, Zeus and the other gods and goddesses want to put a more positive (and hilarious!) spin on their version of events.

From Medusa just wanting to be noticed to Eurydice quickly tiring of Orpheus’s attention and Paris having to choose who to give his golden apple to on the reality TV show “Apple of His Eye,” the two teens are surprised to hear different perspectives on familiar ancient Greek stories. The only problem is... the mythological figures might not exactly be telling the truth!
