Argentine tango can be described as a walking embrace to music; the walk is absolutely fundamental to the dance and there's so much we can do with it to give our tango style, variety and most importantly musicality. At this intensive workshop Miriam Gita will show you variations of the tango walk which enable you to express the music with more liveliness and playfulness. Tango is not a synchronised dance and as you get more experienced a greater proportion of the steps suggested for the follower by the leader will be totally different to those he himself takes. We will examine the exciting effects that can be created within the tango walk in syncopation with each other and in sympathy with the complexity of the music. The technical skills vital to achieving this will be taught in great detail and you will be given options to make it attainable and satisfying whether you want an ambitious challenge or a simple introduction to the concept. You will also be given exercises for homework designed by Miriam Gita to help you develop the strength, control, flexibility and balance necessary to dance Argentine tango well.
This two-hour workshop is suitable for all with useful simplifications given to beginners as well as advanced challenges on offer for more experienced tangueros. No partner necessary.
