Join the Mersea Island Players & Mersea Island Young Players this June for their joint musical production, marking their 25th anniversaries.
𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟯𝘁𝗵 & 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱
This landmark celebratory production was a great opportunity to bring together both groups outside of the usual January pantomime. The joyous, colourful and much loved musical; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat was quickly chosen by director, Claire Thomas, much to the delight of the drama group; most of whom can be considered Joseph mega-fans – to the point where it attracted many new and rejoining members !
The hard-working teams behind the costumes and staging are meticulously crafting everything to transform the MICA stage into the ancient lands of Canaan and Egypt come June, but you can expect a contemporary twist! To match this hard work, the cast are joining together each week and committing to longer rehearsals, which everyone is thoroughly enjoying.
With lyrics by Tim Rice and Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, this all-singing all-dancing smash hit musical is not to be missed. A mini orchestra and choir were required to be formed for the occasion too, expertly led by Ian Jewitt. With no less than 3 keyboards, an accordion, drums, guitar, brass, woodwind instruments and the choir itself, the list goes on and also highlights the talented amount of musicians on our little island.
