Apron workshop coming up 23rd August 10-4pm.
We have a choice of three patterns all cross overs at the back.
1. Japanese style x- over with straight edges at the hem or
2. Japanese Style x- over with a rounded hem if you wish to learn how to use an overlocker at the same time. Linen/ cotton/Denim 1mtr 75 x 150cms wide - two way print.
3. My latest version of a pinafore apron based on a 1960s mini shift dress, altered to have a full cross-over back - see my sketch making it wearable as a pinafore dress- to cover your clothes!
It would be great in cotton/ denim / cord or tweed for winter in the kitchen or garden. Be sure to buy a minimum of 2.5mtrs x 150cms wide. If you are tall or have a one way nap/print please add at least half a metre to this length.
Product Details
Come and join us for a relaxed day of stitching. Create your very own one size apron or simple pinafore in a cross over Japanese style, to suit your size and height in a colour of your choice. Please get in touch in advance to plan the purchase of your chosen fabric. It is possible to recycle a preloved tablecloth for this project as long as the width is suitable.
By the end of the day you will have learned how to work from a pattern, use the overlocker and or your own machine or ours and completed a beautiful linen/cotton apron with large patch pockets to take away.
Fabrics
This Japanese apron can be made from linen, heavy weight cotton, lightweight denim or even old embroidered tablecloths. If you are bringing your own then you will need at least 1.75 mtrs at 150cm wide, with a 2 way print.
The 60's style pinafore apron can be worn as a dress and takes a minimum of 2.5mtrs x 150cms wide. If you are tall or want to buy a one way print or corduroy please add at least half a metre to this length.
We do have some suitable fabric you can purchase from us, but please get in touch beforehand.
What will I need?
If you have a machine you would like to use, then you are more than welcome to bring it, but we do have machines here.
Any fabrics you would like to use for your apron.
Other information:
Times: All our Saturday workshops run from 10 - 4 with a break for lunch.
Refreshments: We are unable to provide lunch, so please bring lunch or take advantage of the lovely cafes in Cockermouth. Tea, coffee, biscuits are on tap all day.
Parking: We are situated on the main street just next to Wordsworth House. If you are bringing a machine, feel free to drop off at the shop after 9.45 and there are several carparks within a short walking distance.
