Wild Mushrooms 101 with Ariel Bonkoski

Interested in learning about wild mushrooms? During this class, you will learn about foraging and identifying wild mushrooms. We will discuss some basic information about mushrooms, steps for identifying mushrooms, steps for foraging mushrooms, common edible mushrooms, common toxic mushrooms, recommended resources, etc. You will also get to handle some real mushrooms to get some hands-on experience with some of the mushrooms we will talk about.

Ariel Bonkoski, based in Duluth, Minnesota, is a self-taught mushroom expert and author who has studied fungi since 2016. She is one of North America's most active mushroom identifiers and teaches widely across the continent. Known for her enthusiastic and approachable style, Ariel is committed to citizen science and is a dedicated Minnesota Master Naturalist. Passionate about nature, she enjoys camping, hiking, and foraging, and is driven by a lifelong commitment to learning and connecting people with the natural world.
