About the event

Artificial Intelligence for the Layperson
What is artificial intelligence, and how does it work?

ChatGPT and other large language models have quickly become common tools used around the world. They are able to generate many different types of text, including prose, computer code, and language that imitates a style.

Tom Helmuth, Associate Professor of Computer Science at Hamilton College, will explain how large language models like Chat GPT work, how they are trained, and what they can do, as well as giving an overview of other subfields of artificial intelligence.
