Previously at NAVA...
- The Digital Press staff made their own choices for each gaming station, the tournament, and the arcade high score challenge in our 2025 "Team Spirit" event.
- The arcade challenge was GORF. The high score winner Walter A put up the high score of 14490, earning the coveted "arcade champion" $20 gift certificate.
- The 6pm tournament was MARIO KART 64. Robin ran rings around the competition, earning the $20 tournament prize.
- Gamers, collectors and friends shared their recent adventures and sold or traded their goods.
In This Month's NAVA: Happy Birthday, Super Nintendo! on August 23rd 1991 across the USA, legions of gamers plugged a Super Nintendo into their televisions for the first time. What were they playing? The launch titles were Super Mario World, F-Zero, Pilotwings, Gradius III, and SimCity. Not a bad first day! To celebrate, we will have FOUR Super Nintendo systems set up with lots of games to choose from. Challenge a stranger!
Arcade Challenge: You've seen the SNES cartridge everywhere because it was a launch title, but have you ever played it? Of course you have. But have you mastered it? It's Konami's 1989 side-scrolling shooter GRADIUS III. Be the best at this game on this day by logging the highest score on our arcade cabinet by 9pm and win a nifty $20 gift certificate. Arcade challenge games are set to FREE PLAY all day, but please remember to let everyone get a shot. If you get the high score, move on, and no hogging the cabinet! Also if you have won last month’s arcade challenge you are not eligible to win this month’s challenge.
6PM Tournament: Here's one that just about everyone who's ever owned a Super Nintendo has played: TURTLES IN TIME. We're going to change it up a little bit, though, and play in VERSUS mode. That's the head-to-head mode, and here's a little tip for people who actually read these things: press JUMP+ATTACK to BLOCK! That isn't available in the usual beat'em up mode. Good luck! Sign-ups begin at 3pm, the tournament starts after 6pm in this first-come, first-served and as always at NAVA, FREE-to-join tournament. Winners receive a $20 gift certificate!
Remember, you can bring a box or two of your trade goodies. We'll help you administer sales and get you set up somewhere in the store to sell your goods, there is no charge for this perk, NAVA is the time for trading! Also, if you have a Digital Press or NAVA t-shirt, wear them for a for an additional 5% discount on the store's already low-low prices! If you don't have a Digital Press t-shirt, ask us how to buy one while you're here. It's NAVA time, people! Let us all GAME ON.
