Ghostly and Ghastly Cleveland Flats
-Walking Tour-
Specters and Slaughter on the Cuyahoga River
The site of Cleveland's first settlement in the 1790's, The Cuyahoga River Flats soon grew into a booming industrial area dotted with saloons, brothels, factories, and residences. The river, as well as the Ohio and Erie Canal, brought commerce and prosperity to the area – as well as the occasional murder! Hauntings were soon to follow.
Come explore the site where the Cleveland Torso Killer's final victim was recovered from the murky Cuyahoga River in 1938. Pull up a stool at the legendary Flat Iron Cafe, said to be one of Cleveland's most haunted saloons. Stand on the site of Cleveland's first reported murder, which occurred in 1803, and visit a railroad crossing where over a century ago, a ghost was said to wail from beyond the grave.
Join us for these true tales of terror, and more, as we explore the dark side of Cleveland's riverfront.
Part true crime, part ghost walk, part pub crawl, this tour meets at 8:00 pm at the Harbor Inn - 1219 Main Ave., Cleveland, OH 44113. Ample parking may be found in the area. It is suggested that guests check in 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour. This walking tour lasts approximately 3 hours and concludes on the opposite bank of the Flats, near the intersection of Front Ave. and W. 10th Street, just over 1 mile away.
