In June, we're switching it up a little bit and doing a full month of Balboa!
Our four week progressive Balboa series begins on June 5 and will introduce you to the basic steps and shapes of the dance, starting with the close embrace connection and moving all the way through toss outs! This is meant to be a beginner series, so no experience or partner is required.
Balboa is a partnered swing dance that originated in Southern California in the 1930s. It allows you to keep your cool while dancing to fast tempos or on crowded floors, making it the perfect dance to learn before summer! Our classes are designed to be progressive series. That means each class builds on the previous one, so it is best to come every week! The Balboa classes run from 7-8pm, and each class costs $15.
From 8-10pm is our weekly social dance! Come dance the night away to our swinging DJs every Thursday. The social dance costs $8, $5 with student ID, or is FREE for folks who take lessons beforehand.
Both the lessons and the social dance are located at The Brownhoist, at 4403 St Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44103. Free parking is available in the lot at the corner of St. Clair and E. 45th, as well as on surrounding streets.
