Trapped housewife Evelyn encounters an eccentric older woman who recounts the exploits of her free-spirited sister-in-law Idgie, owner of a small Alabama café in the 1920s. It’s a film about the empowering nature of female friendship in a world dominated by the power of men that is guaranteed to pull on the heartstrings.
