Pizza, Prosecco & a Paperback 🍕🥂📖 On Tuesday the 14th of Oct I’m hosting an open book club with Clevedon Book Club at The Riff Corner in Clevedon. We’ll be raising money for St Peter's Hospice in honour of our dear friend and book club cofounder, Deb Caine, who sadly passed away last year.
Local author, Tim Ewins Author, will be joining us to discuss his much loved first novel, We Are Animals. Tickets are £20 including a Margherita pizza from the fantastic Wren's Pizza, a glass of Prosecco (or soft drink) and the book club event, or £26 to also include the book, free delivery or collection within Clevedon and an increased donation.
Last March our book club reviewed Tim’s second (Clevedon based!) novel, Pieces of Enid and thoroughly enjoyed. Our lovely Deb wrote a review at the time, here is a snippet:
“Creative, insightful, different… The story handles a sad and sensitive subject very well, with lighthearted and heartfelt moments sprinkled throughout... Definitely a recommended read”
Now, in celebration of Deb, who loved to read (and was an incredibly winning writer, even winning a Clevedon LitFest award last year), we’ve decided to read Tim’s first book. We’d love others to come along and join us!
Maybe you’ve read We Are Animals already, or maybe you’ve been wondering what your next read should be? You can purchase the book with your ticket, find it at the library, on Kindle Unlimited, or via good book stores. At only 320 pages and with five weeks to read we think is very doable (it’s a page turner and once you start you won’t want to stop anyway!) 📕
Tim has very kindly donated his time, and the Riff Corner and Wrens Pizza have also donated the function room and a percentage of profits, meaning £6 of each ticket will go to St Peter’s, £8 for each book/ticket combo. In addition, Wrens are also donating a pound from any pizza purchased that eve 💕 so if you don’t fancy coming to book club but do fancy pizza, you’ll still be helping a wonderful cause! 🙏🏻
