About the event

Lenses of Humanity: How Reflection, Connection, and Empathy Can Heal Our World
In our divisive political times, Dr. Kyle Reyes presents a new framework rooted in Humanity and importance of human communication and understanding. Based on a 5-year research project, Kyle proposes a new approach to intentional and humanity-driven living in the workplace, in our communities, and in our homes. Now more than ever, we need bridge building solutions that embrace human differences as opportunities for growth and connection.

Dr. Kyle A. Reyes serves as Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Utah Valley University. During his nearly 22 years at UVU, Kyle has served as VP of Student Affairs, Senior Inclusion Officer, and Chief of Staff to the President. Dr. Reyes is also a tenured Associate Professor of Education. He is the author of the best-selling book, Lenses of Humanity: How Reflection, Connection, and Empathy Can Change Our World. Kyle has given more than 800 presentations in 36 states on issues of cultural competence, leadership, and transformative learning. Dr. Reyes serves on national and state boards.

This Platform will feature music by Patrick Rafferty, an active performer and teacher, who concertizes across the Midwest and teaches in a variety of studio and classroom settings across the area. A polished interpreter of the traditional guitar repertoire, he is equally at home in a wide range of popular and world music styles. Patrick has extended his interests to early guitar repertoire with a focus on Baroque guitar, 19th Century Guitars and the music that was written for them. Patrick currently serves on the guitar faculty of Southeast Missouri State University, Saint Louis University and the Webster Community Music School.
