From our speaker Dr. Amy A. Hunter: “So much in the world is changing. Is there still hope. If hope is present where and when do I see it?”
Dr. Amy A. Hunter is currently the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Talent Acquisition for the publicly traded Caleres. She recently joined the Caleres team after serving as the Senior Global Equity Diversity and Inclusion leader at Boeing. At Caleres she leads the global initiatives for diversity equity and inclusion and talent. She has enjoyed a career in Human Resources and DEI working within the healthcare, agricultural, educational, and financial services industries.
Hunter has more than 20 years of experience in human resources, organizational development, project management and leadership within the corporate and nonprofit arenas. Her responsibilities have included creating and implementing return on investment strategies for recruitment, curriculums for training and development and measurable retention strategies.
Hunter is best known for “The Talk” a conversation she publicly started after the killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. She has spoken and presented diversity training, keynotes, seminars, and strategy sessions around the world. She is well respected globally and has received numerous awards for her achievements as a diversity scholar and activist.
Her community engagements have included serving on several boards for local organizations including The Missouri Historical Society, and the United Way. She has also led initiatives the disability community and supported the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce St. Louis.
Her popular TEDx presentation is called “Lucky Zip Codes.”
Hunter attended Jackson State University and earned her undergraduate degree and her PhD from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She is the proud mother of four and the “Nana” for one important human. She was a TEDx Presenter in 2018, 2015, and 2014.
Mayla Stith, a 17-year-old singer-songwriter from STL, will perform during Platform. She plays live sets around the area and mainly performs indie-folk/soft-rock covers and originals. She has an EP out under her name entitled Let Go, and it is available now on all streaming platforms. She is very excited to play for you!
