Amateur Radio: World War II, Today and Tomorrow

Join us for our Saturday Speaker Series at the Library & Research Center!

Amateur radio operators played vital roles during World War II, both at home and abroad. Washington University project manager and author Lisa Spahr will share her family’s heartwarming story of receiving messages from “hams” and shortwave listeners. Ward Silver, a ham radio expert and author, will provide an overview of amateur radio, including its most common technologies, and explain what a “ham” is and what it takes to become one. Following the program, explore ham radio resources in the St. Louis area and engage in conversation with local radio operators.
