Intrigued by the lives of the characters in Bridgerton, The Gilded Age, or Downton Abbey? Do you love Austen, the Bronte Sisters, Wharton, Chopin, Shaw or Wilde? Join us for a workshop of 19th Century literature!
Our first meeting led by Mary Sorrels, lover of literature and scholarship, will provide an overview of specific authors, genres, and motifs for studying Victorian Literature. The workshop will be held in a historical landmarked 19th century Clarence Honeyhouse, whose history parallels the settings of pastoral novels and drawing room satires. Tour the house and learn a bit of local history. The interactive workshop is ideal for anyone who enjoys classic literature, appreciates discussion and context as a reader, or wonders as to the reasons for the enduring appeal of Victorian authors ...and, of course, for those who escape to the romance of the Bridgerton series!
Tuesday, August 5, 6:30-8:30 Workshop fee is $20, includes education, tea and home-made scones in a historical setting.
