The Derwent River Interclub Challenge is the highlight of the NNLAA's trout fishing roster each season, and this year will be no different.
All Southern Tasmanian Licensed Anglers Association clubs are invited to compete, and this year Launceston Anglers Club, Deloraine Anglers Club, Longford Anglers Club, and Ulverstone Anglers Club have also been invited down to fish the competition.
Competition fishing starts at 6 pm Friday, the 22nd August, finishing with a weigh-in from 1 pm to 2 pm on Sunday, the 24th August.
Each Club Captain needs to lodge team entry, number/names of competitors by 6:00 pm Thursday 21st August either online at the Facebook page or to NNLAA President Laurie Harrison - Telephone 0428 626 370 before the competition starts.
A prefish ban will be in place from Midnight Wednesday the 20th of August. Note that any intending competitors caught fishing before competition time will be disqualified, along with their club.
Each Club captain must collect entry fees of all competitors, whether they catch fish or not, to forward on to Laurie Harrison before weighing in fish.
Entry fees are Adults $10 and Juniors $5. Competitors must be a financial member of a Tasmanian angling club before the competition starting time to be eligible to compete as well.
The fishing boundary will be from the Lawitta Pump Station through to the Tasman Bridge, with the weigh-in, prize presentation, and raffle held at the Rotunda on the New Norfolk Esplanade. There is a massive number of prizes available in the competition and for the raffle: heaviest trout trophies, senior, female, and junior. Winning sashes, vouchers, endless tackle, and much more.
The winning team will be determined by the club that has the heaviest total weight of 5 fish.
It's always a great weekend, and this year should be no different. The NNLAA is proud to host this great event. Big thanks to all of our sponsors for helping out as well.
