A friendly, hands-on introduction to using a sewing machine, perfect for young people who are curious about sewing and love making things themselves.
In this relaxed, supportive workshop, tutor Lauren Holloway will guide children step by step through the basics of machine sewing. They’ll learn how to set up and thread a machine, explore different stitches, and try simple techniques like hemming and appliqué. Using these new skills, each young maker will create a drawstring bag and a personalised appliqué cushion cover to take home.
By the end of the day, participants will feel confident using a sewing machine and proud of what they’ve made, with practical skills they can build on for years to come. No previous experience needed, and all materials and sewing machines are provided.
