These are monthly ‘pop-up’ events taking place on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
Sustainability Hub volunteers will welcome passers-by into the hub space for some refreshment and/or a chat about local sustainability projects.
If visitors have a bike or anything else that needs fixing they will be introduced to cycle repair café mechanics or signposted to Christchurch Repair Café at the Saxon Bar.
You’re welcome to drop-in to help out anytime between 8-11am or commit to a shift from 8-9:30am or 9:30-11am or the full 3 hours.
Volunteers will ask visitors which local environmental initiatives they’d most like to support, take part in or start and connect them to projects and people accordingly.
Guests will be invited to attend and/or create a display showcasing their work on sustainability.
Volunteers will also invite visitors to complete questionnaires and/or be interviewed to inform plans for future projects by capturing attitudes to sustainability, perceptions of cycling-related schemes and also their ideas for potential future projects.
Cycle Repair Café volunteers will do safety/diagnostic checks and basic repairs in return for donations in accordance with Christchurch Repair Café procedures.
Volunteers will also:
• Offer to show people how to do their own safety checks and basic repairs following Cycling UK guidelines.
• Demonstrate a range of cargo bikes to highlight their capabilities to reduce congestion and improve air quality.
