Crossroads is paying homage to one of the greatest Hip Hop producers to ever do it: the legendary J Dilla.
Once known as Jay Dee, Dilla wasn’t just a beatmaker. He was the musician’s producer. From his early days with Slum Village, The Pharcyde, and A Tribe Called Quest, to his sonic fingerprints on D’Angelo’s Voodoo, Common’s Like Water for Chocolate and Erykah Badu’s Mama’s Gun, he flipped the script on rhythm and groove forever.
Dilla redefined time feel, making MPCs swing like live drums and blurring the lines between quantised and human. That loose, soulful pocket? Yeah… that’s Dilla time.
