Since its world premiere, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS has been presented in over 30 countries, translated into 15 languages, and seen by more than 73 million people worldwide. This May, the record-breaking, award-winning musical returns to the Isaac Theatre Royal for 4 shows only!
This is the National Youth Theatre’s premiere production in the city of Ōtautahi.
Adapted from TS Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, and performed by a cast of over 150 amazingly talented young performers from across the Canterbury region, this spe-cat-ular musical comes together in a sparkling fusion of music, dance and verse, and has now taken on a new life for a new generation.
On just one special night of the year, all Jellicle cats meet at the Jellicle Ball, where one by one they tell their stories to their wise and benevolent leader Old Deuteronomy, who makes the Jellicle choice and announces which of them will go up to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.
With a superb score by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, breathtaking choreography, stunning costumes and of course the unforgettable ‘Memory’, CATS is a magical musical like no other.
