Talk: Aldhelm and his Legacy 675 to 2025

Malmesbury Abbey and Athelstan 1100 are working together to fill the Abbey as part of a celebration of the 1,350th anniversary of Aldhelm becoming the first Abbot of Malmesbury Abbey and there is no one better to tell the story of Aldhelm and his lasting legacy than historian Tony McAleavy.

We also want to raise funds to help ‘Save our Abbey Roof’. Tickets for this event are FREE but we will be asking you to give generously to the Malmesbury Abbey Roof Fundraising Appeal!

The fact is that Malmesbury's amazing Abbey is currently classed as a ‘Building of National Importance in Distress!’ Major work on the roof is required with a need to replace and repair cracked and broken tiles and slates, replace lead flashing, and restore the rotten or missing Medieval Wallplates.

Every penny donated at the talk will go to help make this happen.

Athelstan would have approved. Aldhelm was his hero.
