In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he's had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, Urinetown is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be, Urinetown catapults the "comedic romp" into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter.

Audition Details
You are encouraged to think outside the norm when preparing your audition. The directors are looking beyond race, gender, and physical ability type casting!
All actors are required to prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song. (Please bring a track on your phone or prepare to sing a capella)
Actors must also prepare a 1 minute comedic monologue from a published play or one that will be provided for you.
Be prepared for choreography - wear clothes/shoes in which you can move easily. Cold reads may also be requested.
Please bring all your paperwork filled out and a headshot.
Call backs: Sunday, May 4th 12:30pm at the Carolyn Owens Community Center. Auditioners will be notified if invited for a callback. Not getting called back does not mean that an auditioner will not be cast. A callback is not a guarantee of casting.
