NextWave “Create Your Own Game From Scratch”

NextWave invites tweens & teens (age 10 and up) to a fun, hands-on workshop at the Chincoteague Island Library: Create Your Own Game with Scratch! Whether you’re a curious beginner or just love games, this is your chance to learn how to design and build simple, interactive games using the free online platform Scratch.MIT.edu.

Led by Professor Manu Viola, a computer science educator from Northeastern University in Boston, the workshop will introduce you to game design basics, block coding, creative problem-solving, and digital storytelling. No prior experience needed—just bring your curiosity!

The workshop takes place on Thursday, August 21st from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Chincoteague Island Library. Bring a laptop if you’d like to create your own game or simply come to watch and learn. Everyone is welcome!
(This program is best for children age 10 and up/fourth grade and up)
