The Chilliwack Museum and Archives want to invite the community to celebrate two new exhibitions, 'Haq and History and 'The Hands that Braid'.
The event will begin at 6:30pm with opening words at 7:00pm from the South Asian Studies Institute, BC Labour Heritage Centre, and visiting artist Kiranjot Kaur. Light refreshments will be served.
Haq and History traces the journeys of early South Asian immigrants who made their way to BC in search of opportunity. Haq and History offers a powerful reflection on the ongoing pursuit of justice and inclusion, celebrating the strength of South Asian communities in BC.
The Hands that Braid is an art project that explores the connections between symbols of wealth, ornamentation, and love — and how these connections are shown through the relationships between people and objects. This installation was created by Kiranjot Kaur, a Surrey-based emerging multidisciplinary artist, author, and engineer.
We hope to see you there!
